Five caught illegal remote gambling in Bangladesh

Bangladesh authorities have nabbed five Indians allegedly remote gambling at the Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium during the one-day Bangladesh Premier League cricket match.

“We have handed them over to police as this is the most we could do. They will take further action,” Jalal Yunus, spokesman for the Cricket Board said.

The Bangladesh Cricket League has been overshadowed by numerous match fixing and betting scandals in recent times but authorities are working hard to stamp out the scourge with almost eighty match goers evicted from two matches in separate stadia just this past week.

Two of the five accused in this latest bust are reportedly repeat offenders having been caught for a similar transgression in October last year.
