Bodog franchise holder extends its US bans

News on 12 Apr 2012

Bodog brand US-facing franchise holder Bovada extended its self-imposed restrictions on players from New York, Maryland and Utah this week, adding Washington state to the list of states from which it will not accept internet betting action.

As before, in an email to players Bovada blames “continuing difficulties finding and maintaining acceptable payment options” for its withdrawal from these states, although players with existing accounts appear to be able, at least for now, to play.

The Washington state ban appears to be more comprehensive, advising punters to withdraw any positive balances from their accounts before the end of April, after which the availability of payments options cannot be guaranteed.

Industry observers note that the latest exclusion could have been prompted by the recent federal indictments against Bodog founder Calvin Ayre and the rather futile seizure of the dormant Bodog.com domain .
