bwin.party awarded Belgian licence

Bwin.Party digital entertainment was awarded an A+ gaming licence by the Belgian Gaming Authority this week.

The award of the licence follows a long, acrimonious relationship with the gambling authority that included the company’s inclusion on the regulator’s blacklist, legal action in the Belgian court, a formal complaint laid with the European Commission, the detainment of its chief executive officer Norbert Teufelberger by Belgian authorities last year and further protracted discussions with the Belgian regulator .

On the regulatory provision that operators must partner with a terrestrial casino in Belgium, bwin.party announced an agreement with the Partouche Group owned Belcasinos Casino Kursaal Oostende NV enabling Belgian residents an alternative gambling destination on the bwin.be website.
