Colombian govt. orders blocking of illegal online gambling

Following the award of the first, and currently only, online gambling license to Aquila Global Group’s wplay.co, the Colombian Ministry of Financehas ordered gambling authority ColJuegos block unlicensed websites who are listed on a 325-page blacklist.

Finance Minister Mauricio Cárdenas, in a Twitter post, specifically singled out Curacao-licensed operator play2wincasino, an online casino owned by HoneyDew Trading Ltd and operated by Cyberrock Entertainment N.V. who was reportedly blocked by the Government’s Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (MinTIC) last week.

In a BluRadio interview, Juan B. Pérez, President of the Colombian Gambling Authority ,Coljuegos, revealed National Police and MinTIC have been actively monitoring unlicensed websites for the past year and continue to compile and update the blacklist.

Pérez warned Government Ministries will continue to monitor and order internet service providers block unlicensed operators from the burgeoning market.
