Could Colorado be about to join the online gambling gold rush?

It appears from an interview published in CardPlayer Tuesday that the trade body representing land casino interests in Colorado, the Colorado Gaming Association, has ambitions to introduce an online gambling legalisation bill to the state Legislature next year.

The executive director of the body, Lois Rice, told CardPlayer that the CGA has already drafted a bill proposing the intrastate legalisation of internet poker, but it had not been moved forward due to other projects.

Whilst Rice had no firm timetable in mind, she was confident that online gaming “will be an issue in Colorado” next year. She revealed that the CGA proposal is modelled on that used in New Jersey.

CardPlayer spoke to the office of House Speaker Frank McNulty, which professed to have no knowledge on the CGA initiative.

American Gaming Association statistics show that Colorado’s 40 commercial land casinos bring in about $750 million of revenue annually. .
