Cross border online gambling bust

A Chinese cross-border online gambling operation has been bust following a complaint to authorities by a gambler who said he lost over 100,000 yuan on social platform QQ back in November 2018 (see previous report).

An investigation by Chinese Police found the business, involving over 130 million yuan (approx. GBP 14.8 million), was operated by Chinese nationals out of Hanoi, Vietnam and Guangxi Zhuang, South China while the online gambling platform was based in Hanoi.

Police arrested eight Chinese Nationals on their return to China for the Lunar New Year celebrations and confiscated over twenty computers, 30 cell phones and three cars.
