eCOGRA secures major Danish regulatory compliance contract

The independent regulatory compliance testing and standards company eCOGRA has scored a major coup in the online gambling auditing and advisory sector following the award of a four-year contract by Denmark’s largest gambling group, Danske Spil A/S.

The contract includes the provision of certification services for the Danish company’s subsidiaries and relevant software providers following ongoing quarterly and annual audits by eCOGRA’s professional staff to ensure that the Danish Gambling Authority’s strict regulations and requirements are met at all times.

European Union procurement procedural rules were meticulously followed by the parties prior to the signing of a Framework Agreement in accordance with Public Procurement Directive (2004/18/EC).

The agreement tasks eCOGRA with the responsibility for fixed quarterly and annual certifications and other ad hoc certification services as required regarding new games, changes to business and gambling functions and other matters concerning Danske Spil A/S and its subsidiaries Danske Licens Spil A/S and Danske Lotteri Spil A/S.

These companies are licensed to offer online casino, online and land-based betting and lottery games in Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

eCOGRA will be responsible for testing, inspection and the issue of certificates applicable to platforms and games of the subsidiaries and third party software platform providers along with their relevant sub-contractors.

Shaun McCallaghan, co-Chief Operating Officer at eCOGRA, observed that the Danish Gambling Authority certification regime is widely recognised as one of the best and most comprehensive in the industry.

“eCOGRA currently provides certification services to a third of the online licensees in Denmark, as well as numerous software providers and sub-contractors, and the opportunity to extend our work following a highly competitive tender process to an organisation of this calibre in such an effective regulatory jurisdiction is a privilege,” he said.
