Florida bookkeeper stole from employers to gamble online

A Tampa, Florida bookkeeper, Paul Wheeler (34) was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment this week after being convicted of wire fraud perpetrated over 15 years and involving six different employers.

Prosecutor Thomas Palermo led evidence before US District Judge Mary Scriven that Wheeler diverted almost $850,000 from his employers to bank accounts under his control, and then used most of the money for online gambling.

In addition to imposing the jail sentence, Judge Scriven ordered Wheeler to forfeit $848,136.04 and pay restitution to victims.
