Gamblers Anonymous mulls dangers posed by daily fantasy sports

News on 28 Aug 2015

According to US East Coast media reports the problem gambling body Gamblers Anonymous is considering the inclusion of daily fantasy sports in its list of subjects that vulnerable gamblers should avoid in order to reduce the dangers of temptation.

The booming DFS industry is attracting an increasing amount of attention from political, commercial and public service organisations concerned that it is de facto a form of gambling and therefore should be the subject of regulation and restraints to ensure compulsive gamblers are not faced with a possible pitfall.

The issue has been placed on the agenda for the October meeting of the international Gamblers Anonymous trustees.
