Gamblers with Skrill accounts warned on hacks

News on 21 May 2013

According to reports on the twoplustwo message board online punters with accounts at the Skrill payment processing facility need to take care following a slew of unauthorised, and in some cases successful, log-in scams.

Apparently the attempted frauds started two weeks ago, with one poster reporting that $12,000 was removed from his account after its security was compromised.

A number of other players report that unauthorised log-in attempts were made on their accounts as well, with speculation that there may have been an information leak.

Fortunately, the Skrill service has a security feature that warns players when log-ins are attempted on their accounts, alerting them to the danger.

The issue has been reported to the British police and is being investigated.
