Malaysian online gambling operator sentenced

Anti-online gambling prosecution news continued to flow from the Malaysian province of Sarawak Friday with reports that an online gambling operator busted last October has been sentenced.

Sia Kee Kwong (36) pleaded guilty to an offence under the Entertainment Ordinance 2000 By-Law of Sarawak and was sentenced to a fine of RM5,000 (US$1,522) or in default six months’ imprisonment by the Magistrate’s Court in Jalan Pekan.

Police teams raided Sia’s premises just after 2pm last October 19, confiscating computers and other evidence.
