Maltese villager a bookmakers worst nightmare

News on 20 Jan 2012

William Hill betting margins were impacted heavily in November 2011 largely due to a lucky Maltese Villager who won an incredible GBP 570 000 on a 683,783/1 accumulator football fixture bet.

A Euro 1 bet on 19 football fixtures to win, placed by the 41-year-old waiter, hit jackpot when all selections landed a win, reports the Independent.

Ralph Topping, chief executive officer of William Hill said at the time: “November was certainly a very good month for our football clients betting on small-stake, high-return multiple bets.”

Not too a bad return on investment for this lucky punter.
