Has NetEnt developed a new way to present reels?

News on 6 Oct 2017

Online gambling software and games developer NetEnt has created more than a little curiosity with a leak regarding a forthcoming slot set for release in the third week of November titled Finn and the Swirly Spin.

The title and an accompanying example of the artwork has triggered speculation that NetEnt has departed the traditional manner of presenting the reels by introducing a swirl mechanic on the pay-lines, but that has not been confirmed and is unlikely to be revealed in full until a little nearer the launch date.

The artwork has a distinctly Irish feel with shamrocks, rainbows, golden acorns and horse shoes, a flute playing character and a  golden key (the objective appears to be to trigger the bonus by centring the gem-encased key).

This will apparently be NetEnt’s last release for 2017, following the launch of the much-anticipated Planet of the Apes 10 reels and 40 pay-lines slot scheduled for the 23rd of this (October) month, which will reportedly boast a unique dual reel / story format titled “rise” and “dawn” – effectively two slots in one.

With little concrete information at present available on Finn and the Swirly Spins, there are reports of 243 or more pay-lines on the new game, supported by features that include expanding symbols, random features, sticky wilds and six different bonus rounds.
