New Isle Of Man minister appointed to oversee e-gaming

The Isle of Man Government Minister for Economic Development John Shimmin MHK announced new delegations for the Department following the arrival of new political Members.

Howard Quayle MHK, a new member, will oversee the e-gaming portfolio taking over the reins from Alex Downie OBE MLC.  Quayle will additionally hold responsibility for the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry, Ship Registry and Space.

Minister Shimmin said of the appointment: “I look forward to working with the new team to deliver our objectives and to ensure that the Isle of Man remains a highly regarded International Business Centre with a successful and diverse economy.

“I would also like to thank Geoff Corkish and Alex Downie for their tremendous contribution to the Department over many years and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them since becoming Minister.

“Alex Downie has been instrumental in driving the success and profile of our emerging sectors such as e-Gaming, Aviation Management and Space, as well as for more established sectors such as maritime through his responsibilities with the Isle of Man Ship Registry.”

The Department of Economic Development announced the appointment of online gambling industry executive Peter Greenhill as its new head of e-gaming development, last week .
