Commissioned by UK television network ITV, production house Sister Pictures has started filming on a new television drama titled Clean Break which features Sheridan Smith, Ben Bailey Smith, Neil Maskell, Jade Anouka, Lloyd Owen, Robert Emms and Rosie Cavaliero.

The lad character in Clean Break is a Canary Wharf office cleaner and single mom of two daughters who struggles with an online gambling problem and pressure from an estranged husband threatening to claim custody of her daughters.

She needs a break in life, and that possibility is raised when she overhears an illegal stock trade being made; the initial shock giving way to the realisation she has direct access to highly confidential financial information that could be her once-in-a-lifetime break.

Armed only with a copy of Trading for Dummies and a gambler’s nerve, the cleaner makes a few tentative steps into the dark, dangerous and illegal world of insider trading, but just how far is she willing to go to turn her fortunes around?

Clean Break has been created by screenwriting newcomer Mark Marlow. The series will be executive produced by Jane Featherstone and Chris Fry, and directed by Lewis Arnold.
