New study on social casino activity

New research into social casino activity has been published by global research firm Newzoo, which reports that nearly half of US social casino players spend money on the games.

The market research firm analysed players of 17 casino franchises in the United States and Western Europe, and found that 46 percent spent real money in the past six months…about the same as the more general mobile gaming audience and up 10 percent year-on-year.

The study included the demographics of real-money social casino players, and found that this was mainly male and in the 21 to 35 year age bracket. Males made up 59 percent of the market, with the 21-35 age-group constituting 55 percent of the paying social casino audience.

It reported that social casino gamers play an average of 5.6 titles in the genre, with most of them spending 2-5 hours per week on their favourite title.

Researchers found that the game with the best monetisation conversion rate was Hit it Rich!, while Slot Bonanza achieved the most engagement, with 7.5 percent of players spending 15 hours or more with the game on a weekly basis.

Big Fish Casino was the biggest competitor for most of the franchises Newzoo analysed, and featured in most of the lists of favoured sites that respondents said they used.
