Online gambling wagers to reach $1 trillion by 2022 says juniper

A new report from Juniper Research says the identification of three disruptors and updated data have found that online gambling wagers will exceed $1 Trillion by 2022.

The new projection is based on an uptake of digital products coupled with increased regulation on a global level.

As Juniper points out, putting that amount into perspective means total online wagers will amass more than the annual deficit being added to U.S. national debt.

2018 forecasts will see total online wagers reach $700 billion, $80 billion up from 2017.

By 2022, Juniper believes online casino will account for 40 percent of online wagers, which research author, Lauren Foye, opines will be driven by new channels such as chatbots driving customer engagement through the delivery of personalised offers.

In addition, the results indicate “significant disruption from social offerings,” in which live streamed entertainment, social interaction and the implementation of gamification will disturb the status quo.

Juniper forecasts online gambling users to almost double by 2022, reaching 684 million.
