Why was Paddy Power’s Twitter account shut down?

Online gambling observers were speculating last night on the reasons behind the sudden and unexplained shutdown of the Paddy Power Twitter account, which boasts over 630,000 followers.

Early reports indicate that the social media platform has blocked the Paddy Power account showing no active feed, and posting a generic message that reads ‘Twitter suspends accounts that violate the Twitter Rules’.

When we went to press there had been no official explanation, but inevitably speculation centred on Paddy Power’s well-known penchant for controversial but attention-grabbing “:mischief marketing”, suggesting that perhaps the company had overstepped the mark in some way.
