Payment service providers in agreement with Dutch Gambling Authority

News on 9 Oct 2014

Kansspelautoriteit, the Dutch Gambling Authority, has entered into a co-operation agreement with various payment service providers (PSP) to block payments to unlicensed gambling operators who continue to offer their online gambling services in the Dutch market.

The co-operation agreement currently includes PSP’s Mollie BV, DialXS BV, BV Sisow, Currence, Mastercard and members of the Payments Association Netherlands, Dutch Banks and PaySquare SE.

Kansspelautoriteit intends expanding the agreement to include other PSP’s saying: “If an illegal provider receives no money from a consumer, it becomes futile to be illegally operating in the market.”

The current PSP’s who have co-opted into the agreement view their role in blocking illegal online gambling payments as their social responsibility.
