PMU to fly remote drones at VIVA Technology 2017

News on 16 Jun 2017

Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) will debut remotely flown drone races at the VIVA Technology 2017 tech expo to be held this week in Versailles as it targets pioneering the emerging Drone Racing market in France.
.
The drones will be raced at the ParisLongChamp racecourse across a 100m straight to simulate actual horse racing. Sounds straightforward, but the kicker is that the pilots will be seated in the PMU Lab five kilometers away.

PMU will showcase the spectacle by broadcasting from cameras on the ground as well as flighting the images, captured by each drone’s cameras as they race, across giant screens at the exhibition and live streamed on YouTube at https://youtu.be/80tf0lNDdCI

PMU is focusing on innovating the betting experience and drones, it believes, are set to become a significant actor in the betting ecosystem.

While other International gambling firms outside of the French market are already offering betting markets on Drone racing, PMU aims to be the pioneer of the emerging vertical on its homeground.
