Polish gambling blacklist reaches five thousand

PIn a recent industry advisory, Poland’s Finance Ministry reminded telecommunications and payment service providers of their obligations according to the Gambling Act.

Telecommunication and payment companies who service Polish clients’ gambling transactions through unlicensed operators will face fines of PLN250,000 (GBP 52,700), the Ministry warned, the onus being on service providers to check against the country’s gambling blacklist which now comprises around 5,500 unlicensed domains.

This week the Ministry of Finance reported total sportsbetting turnover of PLN5.1 billion (GBP 1.1 billion in 2018, up 55 percent y-oy with the state benefiting by PLN 612 million (GBP 128 million in tax revenues.
