Sweden’s gambling authority Lotteriinspektion reported net sales in real money gaming have more than doubled between 2007 and 2016 compared to the European Union whose internet gaming growth has increased on average 3.5 times.

According to Lotteriinspektion, 40 percent of all real-money gaming takes place on the internet in Sweden, compared to just under 20 percent on average within the European Union.

Government revenue derived from gaming in 2017 reached SEK 6.4 billion representing a 4 percent increase, the regulator said, the largest contributor being Svenska Spel, followed by ATG.  Over the past decade, government revenue derived from gaming has increased 29 percent.
