Responsible gambling trust has a new chairperson

News on 22 Jun 2016

Kate Lampard CBE, a former UK barrister and vice chair of the South of England Strategic Health Authority, has been appointed the independent chair of the board of trustees of the Responsible Gambling Trust following a four-month selection process carried out by an independent committee.

The RGT is a problem gambling charity funded by donations from gambling companies and related businesses, which currently give the Trust around GBP 7 million a year to spend on research, education and treatment to reduce gambling-related harm.

Lampard’s appointment means that for the first time in its history the chair of the RGT does not have a gambling-related background, and the board of Trustees is predominantly assembled from outside the industry.
