Shopper´s scratchcard earns a million

News on 1 Aug 2011

Over the weekend an as yet unidentified thirty-ish man shopping at a supermarket in Wigan bought a GBP5 scratch card in the National Lottery and immediately scratched it to discover that he had just won GBP 1 million.
Amid the resulting excitement among staff and customers, the lucky punter vanished without giving out any details, presumably to avoid the publicity and claim his prize at leisure from lottery operators Camelot.
A spokesman for Camelot said they could neither confirm nor deny the Lottery win, and that the claimant had not yet contacted them.
