Singapore retail betting shops hit by systems failure

News on 11 Jan 2017

Singapore Pools suffered an embarrassing suspension of sports betting services and winnings pay-outs over two days this past weekend as a result of technical problems with its systems.

Over 88 outlets and four LiveWire betting venues were impacted, leaving disgruntled punters unable to place bets or collect earlier winnings, with limited football betting services only resuming on Sunday evening, and pay-outs delayed until Tuesday.

Apologising for the hiatus, the company said that all services were back in operation from Tuesday, and explained that the suspension was the result of a technical “glitch” that occurred during routine system maintenance.
