Sportpesa unveils biggest winner in Kenyan gambling history

Kenya-focused sports betting operator SportPesa has unveiled the winner of a whopping Sh 221,331,602 (GBP 1,658,934) jackpot, the biggest in the country’s gambling history.
28-year-old Samuel Abisai was driven from his home in a stretch limousine to a red-carpet event, hosted by SportPesa, in celebration of his windfall after he correctly predicted 17 Mega Jackpot soccer games.
In a statement today, SportPesa said Abisai had to drop his first choice of studying economics when he joined University of Nairobi as he needed to increase his chances in getting a job that would help his family, comprising 12 siblings, out of poverty.
“My life has not been easy but thankfully I got help from an NGO called Compassion International. I will use this win to improve the welfare of my parents and my entire family,” Abisai said.
