More US online sportsbetting indictments

The US Department of Justice may have backed away from its all-inclusive definition of gambling in terms of the Wire Act, but internet sports betting is definitely still a no-no, as two Missouri men found out this week when a federal grand jury in Springfield unsealed indictments against them and they were arrested in Joplin.

Fifty-seven year old William Lisle and seventy-two year old Kenneth Lovett were charged in a 16 count indictment alleging that they used the internet to transmit wagering information including placing bets on sporting events, as part of their gambling business over the last 8 years.

Lisle is also charged with 15 counts of money laundering, allegedly because he sent money to Costa Rica by Fedex in an effort to conceal his profits.
