World Match to collaborate with Italian regulator

The Malta-based online gambling software developer World Match has formalised its offer to help the Italian regulator AAMS eradicate unlicensed operators (see previous report), signing an agreement that from next year it will withdraw its products from unlicensed operators who access Italian punters.

The company will also encourage its existing clients who wish to enter the Italian market to do so lawfully by obtaining the necessary licensing.

Executive director Andrea Boratto said this week that World Match’s collaboration with the AAMS formed part of the company’s commitment to supporting the continued development of safe and regulated markets in Europe.

“World Match has identified Italy as the main European market from which to start the acquisition of market share amongst regulated operators,” Boratto explained. “After Italy, we will focus on Spain, which has undertaken the regulatory process of online slot machines and their introduction in the market.”

Boratto says that World Match already provides its software and games to a number of major Italian-facing online gambling operators, including Intralot, Merkur Win, Mybet, Casinò di San Remo and Giochi24.
