UK Gambling Commission goes walkabout

News on 5 Dec 2009

The UK Gambling Commission is planning an advisory ‘road trip’ around Britain next year as part of a nationwide exercise to develop its relationship with smaller licensed gambling operators without relying on time consuming compliance visits.
These ‘open events’ have been designed to give operators an opportunity to air concerns and suggestions regarding compliance with the Gambling Act 2005 and allow the Commission to update attendees on its approach to risk based regulation.
Key decision makers from the Commission will be available alongside local compliance managers, and the events will cover a range of topics, selected following feedback from operators, and including fees, combatting underage gambling, regulatory returns and effective self-exclusion.
Specific sessions will be available for on-course bookmakers, arcades and off-course bookmakers.
