Australia plans to establish sports integrity watchdog

The Australian Federal Government is preparing the establishment of a National Sports Integrity Commission by 2020, local media report.

The commission will be tasked with addressing match-fixing and corruption in Australian sport through pooled intelligence from State and Federal policing agencies.

Recommendations from The Wood Review, commissioned by the Australian Government, recommended three focus areas:  sports wagering regulation, monitoring and investigating doping activity and assisting sports bodies in developing their own integrity policies.
