BuddyBet launches

UK and Irish targeted social betting site BuddyBet launched this week offering sports fans the option of betting using direct head-to-head challenges.

The product encourages punters to place bets using virtual “BuddyBucks” against other members around the world based on a range of events at varying stakes.

The platform allows for various challenges to be shared across social networks, offering photo, video and chat options with the express purpose of “goading opponents, flaunting successes and humiliating rival fans as it tracks users’ successes and failures”.

Jarrod Epps, chief executive officer of BuddyBet, said: “Despite what others consider to be strong industry growth, our research shows traditional bookmaking is losing its appeal and we believe the industry is walled-off from the desires of the general public. Online betting systems are dated, and they are too technical, complicated and intimidating for the average sports fan or would-be social/casual punter.

“Our viral, sticky approach to online betting is completely different from anything previously available, and our revolutionary social community offers members the perfect opportunity to challenge foes and trash-talkers in a way that will change the face of the industry, making betting fun again.”

BuddyBet plans on launching pool betting in the near future along with a mobile platform.
