Californian city acts against internet cafe gambling

News on 2 Aug 2013

The city of Gilroy in California is the site of the latest battlefield between enforcement authorities and internet cafe operators offering their clients online gambling facilities.

In a late night stealth operation Thursday, about 40 officers from several local law enforcement agencies shut down an illegal gambling venue masquerading as an Internet cafe on First Street, confiscating evidence and money and arresting “dozens” of people, some of them allegedly gamblers.

Police seized 41 computers in the raid.
