EU companies line up for Spanish online gambling licenses

News on 16 Nov 2011

The much-anticipated liberalisation of the Spanish online gambling market is now practical reality in a legislative sense, and European online gambling firms are showing their interest by lining up to licence, according to local media reports.

It is believed that more than 16 companies have indicated an intention to apply for the new Euro 2 million apiece Spanish licenses, which will permit operators to commence trading early in the new year.

Among them are most of the leading brands in the industry, prepared to pay the expensive fee and a tough 25 percent tax on net income.
