Former Leo Vegas exec joins Hero Gaming board

News on 1 Feb 2018

Johan Styren, who resigned as CEO of Malta operations at LeoVegas earlier this year (see previous report) has joined the board of directors of Hero Gaming, a Swedish online gambling games developer and operator which can already boast considerable industry experience through the directorship of former NetEnt leader Johan Åhman.

Hero may be one to watch; headed by CEO and founder George Westin, the Stockholm Nasdaq-listed company employs around 100 employees – 35 involved in technology and product development in the Malmö office while the rest work within the gaming business, based in Malta.

Last month Hero raised SEK 50 million ($6.3 million) in a fresh investment round, with most of the money coming from existing investors, who include Styren.

The new capital will be used to fuel growth in the company, focusing on player acquisition on the company’s three brands: Casitabi in Japan, Casino Heroes in Scandinavia and England, and  Betser.

Operations in Sweden currently account for fifty percent of turnover, but growth is being experienced in Norway, Finland, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Profits were few in FY 2017, although revenues in excess of SEK 200 million were reported.
