Four left in the running for UK Tote

News on 11 Feb 2011

UK newspaper, The Telegraph, reports that Gala Coral is rumoured to have dropped out of the field lining up to buy the UK Tote.
Earlier this month (February), the UK Government confirmed that it had whittled away the original eighteen proposals to be left with six parties who were invited to advance to the next stage .
The four said to be left in the field are Fred Done (Betfred), the Reuben Brothers, Former BHB chairman Sir Martin Broughton’s group and the Racing Foundation.
The article opines that Fred Done is the current favourite to win but that the Racing Foundation bid looks attractive for the sport itself as it is structured as an independent foundation with three trustees who own shares and has the added advantage of charitable status.
