Missing girl linked to Bellagio dealer assault

News on 28 Dec 2012

The recent alleged workplace assault by Bellagio Vegas blackjack dealer Brenda Stokes (50) on colleague Joyce Rhone (44) was back on the front pages of local media Thursday after it was disclosed that a missing 10-year-old girl may be involved in the issue.

The girl, Jade Morris, was last seen with Stokes aka Wilson, who has been detained for slashing Rhone’s face with a razor blade.

The girl was last seen by her family at about 5 p.m. last Friday with Stokes, a family friend who was supposed to have taken the missing girl shopping.

Later that night, following the assault on Rhone, Stokes was arrested, and concerns were raised about the missing ten-year-old amid reports that Stokes and Rhone may have been part of a love triangle involving Jades’s father.

Jade’s mother, Tejuana Reeves, called the police to report Jade missing, triggering a police enquiry, whilst Stokes apparently lawyered up and has so far not made any disclosures.

UPDATE:

As we went to press Friday the Huffington Post reported that the body of Jade Morris was found in the Nevada desert on Thursday, according to family members.

The discovery was made by a man walking his dog near an unfinished housing development in the northern stretches of the Las Vegas Valley, Las Vegas police confirmed.

Family members told the Black and Missing Foundation that they visually identified the remains for police, who have not yet released a statement positively identifying the body.

“We are heartbroken today. It has been confirmed by family members that the body of … Jade Morris has been found. We pray for her family,” Natalie Wilson, co-founder of the organisation, told The Huffington Post.

Wilson said the family wasn’t told the cause of death.
