Another blundering Bellagio bandit

News on 24 May 2012

Las Vegas police report that during the World Poker Tour Championship held at the Bellagio last weekend, another bumbling attempt at stealing casino chips took place, evoking memories of the motor cycle bandit who eighteen months ago made a similarly unsophisticated raid and was then caught trying to sell stolen chips over the internet.

In the current case a 24-year-old man named Michael Belton and his friend ‘Carlos’, armed themselves with pepper sprays and, ‘disguised’ with black wigs and sunglasses, ran into the casino late at night, trying to snatch $115,000-worth of chips from a high stakes table before attempted to flee.

Carlos made it out of the casino, but Belton was tackled by a casino security employee and now faces three felony counts of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary, while police search for his accomplice, aided by the extensive security CCTV coverage deployed at the casino.
