New chair sought for UK Gambling & Lottery Commission

Subsequent to the decision taken by the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to merge the Birmingham-based UK Gambling Commission and the National Lottery Commission , a position for a Chair of the proposed UK Gambling & National Lottery Commission is being sought and advertised in leading UK national publications.
The appointment will initially be on a five year contract, two to three days a week and will attract a remuneration of GBP 550 per day, plus expenses.  The position will be available from 1st April 2011, and the new incumbent will lead the Gambling Commission until its merger (expected in 2012) with the National Lottery Commission, and thereafter lead the merged body.
A key role for the Chair will be to lead on designing the appropriate governance and associated board structure for the merged body, and to oversee the development of shared services and closer working in the run up to the merger.
