Norwegian authority warns off remote operators

News on 8 Oct 2014

Non-Norwegian licences operators offering services in the market have been warned off by the Norwegian Gambling Authority Lotteritilsynet.

A number of European operators were sent a communication by Lotteritilsynet that advised increased vigilance and action against companies targeting the Norwegian market following a noticeable increase in marketing and customer acquisition efforts.

Some of those operators reportedly include Unibet, Mr Green and Leo Vegas.

Atle Hamar, director of the gaming authority, in the absence of a formal remote gambling framework, warned of the possibility of IP blocking and/or regional payment blocking to remote gambling operators.
