Paddy Power taunts sportsmen

News on 1 Mar 2013

Online and land gambling group Paddy Power is at it again, drawing attention to its offers through innovative, if provocative advertising that is entertaining but runs the risk of more complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority.

In the latest initiative, the gambling group has taken to large billboards opposite top UK football stadia, poking fun at stars of the resident club.

One such billboard targets Chelsea star player Fernando Torres, taunting the soccer ace on his lack of goals in recent times, reports the Daily Mail.

Others have been posted near various stadia aimed at Andrey Arshavin of Arsenal FC; Aston Villa’s Darren Bent; Peter Odemwingie of West Brom and QPR’s Jose Bosingwa.

The Mail reports that Chelsea has failed in attempts to have the offending poster taken down on image rights grounds because it is not situated on their property.
