PAGCOR replaces senior management team

News on 22 Aug 2016

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has replaced the senior management group of its Gaming Licensing and Development Department (GLDD) effective August 17, 2016 according to a notification to all licensees late last week.

The Remote Gaming Unit’s Nelia S. Lorenzo has been replaced by Marvic P. Baas, Casino Compliance and Regulatory Unit’s Perpetua Theresa Flor by Maria Teresa D. Ocampo and Casino Development, Special Projects and Administrative Unit’s Jessica Arambulo by Bernadette De Guzman.

PAGCOR chief executive officer Andrea Domingo reiterated in an interview with The Philippine Star today that the “President’s [Duterte] administration’s initiative to correct imperfections in the government’s gaming policies will continue”. It’s not clear whether the replacement of the GLDD senior management was in response to this initiative.

“The campaign to correct or stop previous gaming policies that bring about such pernicious social conditions just had to start with PhilWeb, simply because its license had expired,” Domingo said. “Pagcor will deal with similar cases involving other parties accordingly,” she continued referring to the regulator’s refusal to renew PhilWeb’s contract and its subsequent refusal to accept the donation of a 49 percent share in PhilWeb offered by the former trade minister Roberto Ongpin in a bid to save the company (see previous reports).
