Social casino developer gets into football sponsorship

News on 21 Aug 2017

In a new twist to football sponsorship social casino and games developer Playtika has signed a one-year sponsorship deal with top Spanish La Liga team Sevilla.

The agreement will see Playtika’s free-to-play brand PlayWSOP.com appearing on team shirts in a bid to catch the attention of the 3 billion fans per season who watch La Liga games and follow the fortunes of the 20 teams in the top league.

Playtika will also receive publicity and stadium advertising benefits, along with important access to the club’s fans through digital and social networking channels.

Our readers will recall that a Chinese consortium bought Playtika from Caesars Interactive Enterainment last year for $4.4 billion, a handsome profit for CIE, which purchased the developer in 2011 for just $90 million.

Playtika replaces previous sponsor Puerto Rico, which reportedly ran into financial difficulties and was unable to sustain its premier association with the football club. The European online gambling group GVC Holdings subsidiary Bwin is Sevilla’s official betting partner (see previous reports).
