Spain benefits from online gambling tax

The Spanish General Directorate of the Game released limited stats on the evolution of the newly legislated online gaming market recorded from June to end September 2012.

–  Tax revenues totaled Euro 111 million while administrative fees yielded Euro 12.78 million from January to October 2012.

–  A total gross gaming revenue (GGR) of Euro 77 434 803.

–  Betting contributed 46 percent to the total GGR, poker 35.9 percent, Casino and other games 17.8 percent and contests 0.3 percent.

The importance of proceeds from the online gambling sector is highlighted in the Country’s State Budget for Fiscal 2013 forecasting collections of almost Euro 150 million in 2012.
