Will Spanish online gambling taxes be reduced?

News on 6 Apr 2018

Spain’s rather high online gambling tax rate of 25 percent may be set for a 5 point cut if the Minister of Finance, Cristobal Montoro, has his way.

With parliamentarians mulling the 2018 budget, Montoro has proposed cutting the tax rate to 20 percent in order to attract more operators to the burgeoning Spanish online gambling market.

The minister introduced the measure, which applies to most forms of online gambling, to the lower house of parliament this week for consideration.
