Videoslots takes affiliate monitoring system on board

Moving quickly following its expensive run-in with the UK Gambling Commission recently online casino operator Videoslots.com has contracted Wag.io impose more control over affiliate marketers and their handling of compliance and brand integrity matters for the operator.

Wag.io is a new web-based platform which would appear to be well-timed as the Commission tightens up its regulatory enforcement with multi-million pounds sterling penalties for non-compliant operators.

Almost GBP 14 million in fines were issued in total to Daub Alderney and Casumo in the latest Commission actions, and Videoslots had to pony up a penalty package of GBP 1 million.

Videoslots management has accepted the Commission’s findings of flaws in its management of anti-money laundering and social responsibility and is now working to rectify these.

“We’re pleased to welcome Videoslots as our latest client and help them to underscore their dedication to compliance and responsible gaming,” said Roo Wright, CEO of Wag.io in a statement this week. “While their recent findings were not fully associated with non-compliant ads from their affiliates, our partnership marks their commitment to compliance across all aspects of their business”.

Wright added that the Commission’s “zero tolerance” approach to compliance means that operators must now be more focused on their commitment to regulatory requirements, which he described as a major challenge, but one to which the industry is capable of rising.

Recent statements by the UK Gambling Commission’s chief executive Neil McArthur and Jeremy Wright, Secretary of State for the British government’s department of Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport indicate that the tougher approach of the Commission has now been implemented, and that further punitive actions can be expected if operators do not meet their licensing obligations.

The Commission currently oversees some 2,794 operators.
