News on 10 Jan 2018

Reports earlier this week that the Italian regulator is at last about to open bidding for 120 new online gambling licenses (see previous reports) was confirmed today (Wednesday) by an official notice in the European Union Official Journal.

As expected, applicants will have to pay a fee of Euro 200,000 and must have a physical presence in the European Economic Area.

The bids will be opened on April 19 and reviewed in order of submission, and the licenses have a duration of just over 4 years, expiring on December 31, 2022.

Licence categories cover online sports betting, card games, slots, and bingo among others.
