bwin.party exits Dutch market

News on 22 Nov 2012

bwin.party digital entertainment has reportedly complied with a directive from the Netherlands Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit) requesting unlicensed online gambling operators to withdraw from the market in anticipation of new legislation that will govern the pastime in the Country.

bwin.party digital entertainment is thought to be one of twenty operators, that include Ladbrokes and Unibet, who have heeded the Authority’s directive which was reportedly sent to around forty online gambling operators active in the Dutch market.

It is presumed that Companies seen to comply with the Dutch authority will be viewed more favourably when licensing awards eventuate.

bwin.party is also to exit the Argentinean province of Misiones market .  The Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos  (IPLyC) of Misiones, said it had revoked bwin Argentina S.A.’s license due to a “breach of contract”, however, director of corporate communications for bwin, John Shepherd, disputes that its licence was revoked telling Gambling Compliance that “contract discussions broke down over the cost of maintaining a licence, so for commercial reasons only, we are not going to renew our licence.”
