European parliament set to debate online gambling resolution

The online gambling community in Malta, home to many of the industry’s major companies, will be watching the proceedings of the European Parliament Plenary Session in Strasbourg next week, when online gambling is on the agenda.

Between September 9 – 12 MEPs on various committees will be considering a wide range of EU issues, and on September 10 the report of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection will be front and centre, with rapporteur Ashley Fox taking an active part in the proceedings dealing with “Online Gambling in the Internal Market” – see full agenda here:

The resolution before MEPs will inevitably influence the Malta industry, where more than 300 operators controlling around 2000 industry companies are licenced, and the business employs around 4,000 people.

The European Parliament Office in Malta will be therefore be discussing the resolution with the industry and MEPs on the morning of 20th of September in Valletta, delivering an expert overview of the European Parliament’s position, a panel debate with the industry and interventions by MEPs.
