FanDuel founder to start new eSports streaming venture

News on 24 Jan 2018

FanDuel founder and former CEO Nigel Eccles has again displayed his entrepreneurial flair by starting a new Edinburgh-based eSports social streaming company titled Flick.

Our readers may recall that Eccles departed FanDuel last year, hinting that he had in mind an eSports-related venture.

Flick will operate in a similar manner to Twitch, but with social eSports content, presenting the legions of eSports and video gaming fans with a fresh way to share gaming experiences with friends.

Still in the formative stage, the company is consulting with players to ensure it delivers a popular product with fast take-up. The company is also looking to hire technical people versed in gaming, eSports, video, mobile and social networking.

Eccles has been joined in the venture by Rob Jones, former chief product officer at FanDuel, who as well as investing in the project is its chief product officer. Eccles will reportedly operate from the United States, whilst Jones runs the engine room in Edinburgh.

The duo are considering an A-series funding round.
