Iowa racing approved for online betting

It appears that Iowa gamblers will soon be able to place horse race bets online or by telephone via advanced wagering accounts with the state-licenced Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino after ‘Emergency regulations’ were passed on a 5-0 vote by members of the State Racing and Gaming Commission on Thursday.

The newly approved rules will require that advanced wagering betting – including betting on races at other tracks – be operated solely through Prairie Meadows whose  online service may be up and operating as soon as January 2012.
